How to Compare Supplier Quotations for Building Materials

A practical guide for project buyers comparing materials, specifications, installation details and supplier communication before requesting a quotation.

The lowest unit price is not always the lowest project cost. Building material quotations may differ in thickness, surface, packing, accessories, loading quantity, payment terms and lead time. Buyers need to compare the full quotation, not only one line.

Quotations should be compared by specification and finished product details, not only unit price.

What often causes price differences

Two quotes may look similar but include different coating, wear layer, panel thickness, trims, packing or freight assumptions. If those details are not aligned, the comparison is not fair.
